On 20 September 2026 Berlin went to the polls — and for the first time in the history of this city, the Left is the strongest party in the capital. 25.7 percent. A year ago hardly anyone would have thought that possible.
In Neukölln it is even 33 percent — more than twice as much as the CDU. That is not only a victory for every hard-working person and family in our city, it is also a clear message to those at the top — and it came from our district.
And here at home, in Gropiusstadt, Buckow-Nord and the Blumenviertel? In 2023 the Left had 4.3 percent in the constituency. Now it is 18.2. No other party gained as much here — more than quadrupled, in a single campaign.
The direct mandate did not come our way — I say that openly, and yes, it hurts. But I am a child of this neighbourhood. And if there is one thing I learned here, it is that you do not give up because the first attempt falls short.
A constituency that has quadrupled in one year is not an end. It is a beginning. The issues remain: affordable rents, good schools, dignity in care — and a clear stand against the far right, because the AfD gained ground here too. That is exactly why I am not stopping. People always before profit — nothing about that has changed.

No. According to the preliminary result, DIE LINKE Neukölln won three direct mandates in the north of the district and one seat via the district list — my place 6 on the list was not enough for that. The direct mandate in constituency 4 went to the CDU. I say this so plainly because you deserve to hear it plainly.
For the seat: yes. For the cause: no. In 2023 the Left had 4.3 percent in the constituency, now it is 18.2 — more than quadrupled, the biggest gain of any party here. 3,676 people in Gropiusstadt, Buckow-Nord and the Blumenviertel gave their vote to a left-wing candidate. That has never happened here before.
The Left is the strongest party in Berlin (25.7 percent) and in Neukölln (33.0 percent — more than twice as strong as the CDU). Three of the six Neukölln constituencies were won directly. Who will govern Berlin in future will be decided in the coming weeks.
The campaign is over, the work in the neighbourhood is not. The issues are the same as before the election: affordable rents, good schools and nurseries, dignity in care, a clear stand against the far right.
